The partnership
E.VITA and enspired are in a joint venture to reduce Germany’s dependence on fossil fuels by expanding the wind and solar marketing network across the country’s 4 control zones, in which grid efficiency is secured by TSOs TenneT, 50Hertz, TransnetBW and Amprion.
The customer
As a mid-sized energy supplier, E.VITA has been active in the direct marketing of renewable energy systems alongside the conventional electricity and gas business for five years. With close to 500 facilities under management, E.VITA specializes in small plants between 100 and 500 KW. In addition to subsidized direct marketing, power purchase agreements (PPA) are particularly interesting for plants over 20 KW. More and more larger wind farms and photovoltaic power stations are being added to the portfolio within the framework of a PPA. The aim is to cover the majority of electricity sales with German PPAs in the coming years.
The use case
As part of the optimization service, enspired trades the forecast deviations of E.VITA’s renewable generation portfolio on the short-term power market. This means that E.VITA independently markets the electricity in the day-ahead auction before enspired takes over to trade arising variances from the prognosis in the intraday market. With a so-called MPM (“Marktprämienmodell” or market premium scheme) as well as a PPA in place for each control zone, enspired runs a total of 8 algorithms on behalf of E.VITA.
In December 2023, this constituted a trading volume of 6 GWh, although it should be noted that December is not the most representative month due to low sun exposure. "Thanks to the collaboration with enspired, we have access to the intraday market, which substantially decreases our imbalance energy needs and associated cost risk. We are excited to explore the full potential of the partnership going forward," says Anne Behrendt, E.VITA's Director of Energy & Innovations.

The environmental edge
"Working with E.VITA has been productive and seamless. Our automated trading setup allows us to stabilize the grid by reacting swiftly and accurately to forecast changes in their portfolio. We appreciate E.VITA’s efficiency in our established customer process of transparent communication and mutual knowledge sharing," Robert Uhde, Senior Sales Expert at enspired, comments. Reducing imbalances is a key strategy for fostering grid resilience and renewable integration, both of which ultimately contribute to a more competitive and sustainable energy landscape.
